Fund Descriptions

The listed funds, unless otherwise specified, require a minimum donation of $10.00. Donations of $10.00 or more will be acknowledged in pages of the East Meadow Beth El Jewish Center monthly newsletter . Donation cards are mailed to those honored by donations or to the families of those memorialized.

If you wish to set up and maintain a new fund, whether in honor or in memoriam of an individual, a minimum of $2,500 is required. The money will remain in the fund for six months, at which time members of the EMBEJC administration along with the Rabbi will meet with the family and discuss how the money raised will be dispersed and utilized.

List of Funds

Michael Abramson Memorial Fund  This fund will be would be used for teaching members to participate in the Service (e.g.: Torah Blessings, Hagbah, etc.)

Beautification Fund – Donations are utilized to purchase floral arrangements that appear on the Bimah for the Festival of Passover and for the greenery displayed at Shavout.

Bob Schreibman  Memorial Technology Fund  Provides monies to expand EMBEJC’s presence on the internet and social media

EMBEJC Endowment for the Arts Fund  Donations will be used to underwrite quality programming in music, dance and cultural eduaction at EMBEJC

Evelyn and John E. London USY Encampment Scholarship Fund  Provides funds for EMBEJC children attending USY Encampment

Etz Chayim Book Fund – Donations purchase the books used on Shabbat and holidays that contain the Torah with English translation and commentary (this is a $75.00 donation per book).

 

Goldfein/Linnick Scholarship Fund – Donations help provide Hebrew School tuition assistance for congregants experiencing financial difficulties.

Higher Jewish Education Fund – Donations provide reimbursement money to college students of EMBEJC families who enroll in university Jewish Studies courses and who complete the class with a grad of B- or above.

Holocaust Torah/March of the Living Program – Donations provide scholarships for EMBEJC teens participating in the March of the Living Program.

Krangle/Zimmerman Israel Fund – Donations provide partial scholarships to students enrolled in East Meadow Beth El Jewish Center’s High School and/or USY who participate in a teen travel program in Israel.

Harold and Estelle Port Memorial Fund  Donations  help support the PJ Library  which sends a free Jewish book to Jewish children every month.

Library Book Fund – Donations are used to purchase new books for the EMBEJC library.  (In order to include book plates inscribed with the names of those being honored or memorialized, a minimum donation of $10.00 is required).

Nable Hebrew High School Fund – Donations provide funding for enrichment programs and special activities for the EMBEJC Hebrew High School.

Prayer Book Fund – A donation of $36.00 purchases a new daily or Shabbat prayer book (Siddur) and includes an inscription plate with the name(s) of those being honored or memorialized.

 

Randi Weingarten Fund– Donations provide Hebrew School programs for children with special needs

Schreiber Simcha Hall Fund  Donations to this fund will help to enhance and  maintain the beauty of our Schreiber Simcha Hall.

Synagogue Fund – Donations are applied to the costs related to the day-to-day operations and upkeep of our building, grounds, and basic programs at EMBEJC.

The Weekly Scroll –  The Weekly Scroll is our weekly newsletter containing  all upcoming events, services schedules and more.  It is sent to all East Meadow Beth El Jewish Center members.

Youth Fund – Donations help provide funding for activities and events for the very active EMBEJC USY, Kadima and Pre-Kadima programs.

Rabbi’s Discretionary Fund    Please make a separate check payable to Rabbi Discretionary Fund.  Donations are used  to assist congregants in financial difficulty or to worthwile organizations
